Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Linner is Professor of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at OTH Regensburg, where he serves as Managing Director and heads the Laboratory for Automation and Robotics in Construction at the Building Lab, within the group “Digital Construction with a Focus on Production Technology.” He earned his Dr.-Ing. in Construction Robotics from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2013, where he later worked as a senior scientist in building realisation and robotics. He has also held a position as Guest Associate Professor at the Department of System Design Engineering at Keio University, Japan.
At OTH Regensburg, Linner is one of the four core professors of the Building Lab, where he leads the pillar “Automation and Robotics in Construction.” Together with Prof. Christophe Barlieb (CyberCraft) and Prof. Florian Weininger (Design to Fabrication), he forms part of the core teaching team of the CyberCraft Kolleg (CCK), a BIDT-funded (Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation) research and teaching project that integrates Augmented Reality, AI, and robotics into traditional construction crafts through cross-disciplinary student seminars.
In parallel to his academic role, he is Managing Director of CREDO Robotics GmbH, a Munich-based company focused on automation and robotics in construction. He holds several high-level positions in international standardization and research bodies, including Vice President of the International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction (IAARC) since 2021, member of the Presidential Committee for Research, Innovation and Development at DIN (the German Institute for Standardization), and roles at CEN-CENELEC. He is also project partner in the Horizon Europe project ENSNARE.
He is co-author (with Thomas Bock) of multiple volumes in the Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics series, including Robot-Oriented Design and Construction Robots: Elementary Technologies and Single-Task Construction Robots.
