LEICHT Structural Engineering and Specialist Consulting GmbH
Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Florian Weininger is Professor of Building Construction and Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at OTH Regensburg, appointed in March 2019. He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich, earning his Diplom-Ingenieur degree (1997–2005).
His professional career bridges practice and academia. From 2005 to 2007 he worked as a structural engineer at Covertex GmbH, before joining LEICHT GmbH Structural Engineering and Specialist Consulting GmbH from 2007, where he became Associate and Prokurist. From 2007 to 2010 he was simultaneously a research associate at the Hochschule München (University of Applied Sciences Munich). In 2015 he became Managing Director, and from 2017 served as CFO of BPL Enclosure Engineering. In 2018 he founded his own engineering practice.
At OTH Regensburg, Weininger is one of the four core professors of the Building Lab, where he leads the pillar “Design to Fabrication” — teaching and researching the digital chains that connect planning to human-centred machine-based construction. Together with Prof. Christophe Barlieb (Architecture) and Prof. Dr. Thomas Linner (Automation and Robotics in Construction), he forms part of the core teaching team of the CyberCraft Kolleg at the CyberCraft Lab, a BIDT-funded (Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation) research and teaching project that integrates Augmented Reality, AI, and robotics into traditional construction crafts through cross-disciplinary student seminars such as “CyberCraft Archive.”
